WWE Latest News: RAW Still Ratings King, Draws More Viewers Than Smackdown

WWE Latest News – Monday Night RAW continues to trump rival World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) brand Tuesday Night SmackDown, as far as weekly television ratings go.

Tables turned during WWE Draft

Prior to the WWE Draft in July, Tuesday Night SmackDown was actually able to attain a lead in the ratings battle. In a report by Tony Maglio forThe Wrap, it was noted that SmackDown surpassed RAW’s ratings for the first time since 2010.
Viewers for the July 19 show had reportedly reached 3.170 million in total, 1.499 of which from the 18-49 age group. It surpassed RAW’s ratings by one percent as far as total viewers go and five percent among the aforementioned age demographic.
In addition, marquee superstars such as John Cena, AJ Styles and current world heavyweight champion Dean Ambrose have also been drafted by the SmackDown brand, aiming to bring more audience compared to its rival brand.

WWE Latest News – Sudden shift after draft night

SmackDown’s dominance, however, did not last long. In another report by Heavy, RAW’s ratings began to soar once again, particularly for its Aug. 22 episode. It was the first episode aired after SummerSlam 2016, which took place the night prior at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
The report adds that since the draft that took place last July 19, RAW had remained ahead of SmackDown. For the July 25 episode of RAW, it garnered 3.3 million viewers as opposed to SmackDown’s 2.7 million viewers the next day.
During the Aug. 1 episode, RAW garnered 3.4 million viewers as opposed to SmackDown’s Aug. 2 show which only recorded 2.6 million viewers. RAW’s Aug. 8 episode amassed 2.9 million viewers while SmackDown’s Aug. 9 show registered only 2.4 million viewers.
For RAW’s Aug. 15 episode, it garnered 3 million viewers while SmackDown’s Aug. 16 show had only 2.4 million audiences.
Clearly Monday Night Raw has some work cut out for them to beat their rivals in ratings.
